I'll never get enough of watching Ed and Al do their thing.
This series is twice as long as the original anime, but it follows the manga more closely than the original. It's important to not think of this series as the original; there's so much different in this series than the original that it may make you dislike it because honestly, it's how the human brain works. We can't see something one way and then see it a new way and like it.
The episode where Nina and Alexander become a Chimera doesn't pack the punch it does in the original, but Trisha's death is in your feels almost constantly. The Liore story is almost completely gone and only mentioned in an episode or two and it's a lot different original as well. Rose's entire being is made as far less in this series than in the original one. The entire ending is different, the Humunculi are different; save for Lust, Envy and Gluttony, those three are still the same in look and everything else, but those three are fan favorites (I personally have a soft spot for Envy); but Pride, Wrath, Sloth and Greed are different.
There's a ton of new characters in this series that fans of the original who have never read the manga didn't even know existed. You'll like some, you'll want to punch some in the face... repeatedly. And Xiao Mei is panda not a cat!
The way this series ends, I'd love to see a new spinoff appear. Perhaps one that focuses and Al and May while Al is in Xing learning Alchehistory, or perhaps from Ed's point of view while he's off in the west learning what he can from Creta and territories even further west.
This series, while complete, leaves a lot unanswered and a lot open. And unlike the original, the movie doesn't tie up those ends. We can only hope that our pleas will be heard and they will give a little more Alchemy to get by on.
